As the building business evolves, more and more construction systems become modular, foolproof and easily accessible to people not trained in the trade. PEX-AL-PEX water supply lines are an obvious case in point. Now if they could only think up a name that’s as easy to say as the product is to use, we’d really have something to talk about.

All brands of PEX-AL-PEX pipe are worked in much the same way. You snip the pipe with a special set of shears, ream the inside surface of the pipe with a de-burring tool to make it perfectly round and smooth, then join the cut pipe with thread-together fittings or a crimp-on compression fitting. As long as the sealing surfaces inside the joint remain sound, you get leak-free results for sure.
