It is important to properly finish a basement so it doesn’t line-up with the dark and dingy stereotype. In order to have better basement living, you should make sure to make it so that basement feels like a normal living area.

In order to accomplish this task, you must have a high quality tray ceiling as opposed to the cheaper suspended ceiling. This alternative basement ceiling is better looking and will make it feel like a more reasonable living area.

It would also be a good idea to have wide doorways to open things up, install a banister to create less of a detached feel; have as many windows as possible to let in the light, have drywall instead of panels, paint the rooms with light colors, and choose high-quality furnishings.
