Hi - we built a second floor on our home and were considering putting electrical radiant heating under the bathroom (and kitchen) tiles. What do you think? Does it make sense and what do you recommend for a manufacturer? We're budget conscience. Thanks

Our house has alot of dust. We change the furnace filters every few months. I say that the ducts need to be cleaned, my husband disagrees. Where does all the dust come from and how do you get rid of it? Thanks.

I have a 15-year old, 2 storey, 3,000 square foot house heated by forced air natural gas. I am thinking of replacing the builder-installed heating and air conditioning systems. I keep my house at about 17 C all year round. Should I pay up for a high-efficiency system or go with a mid-efficiency one? What is the life expectancy of a good quality system? Thanks

I have a 35 sq. ft. cold room that I would like to make aesthetically appealing. If I were to insulate and drywall this room - ceiling included, would that cause moisture problems and subsequent mould damage? If so, can you suggest other measures? Alternatively, if I were to close up the vent and make this a storage room only, what other changes would I have to make? Thanks.
I highly recommend that you install a return air vent. As long as the air... View More

We are reovating our basement. It'll have forced air heating but we have received differing advice on the location of the venting. Should the hot air vents be located at near the bottom of the floor with the cold air return on top or should the heating vents be located at the top of the room and cold air return on bottom? Can you explain reasoning behind you recommendation. Thank you

Flooring for a walkout basement : House is approx 3,500 sq ft. Many of the difficult things in the [walkout] basement are finished. we need to finish trimmings, change exterior doors, replace windows. While we do that, also want to do the floor : hardwood, or whatever makes best sense for a basement. I understand one can get heated flooring, but this shoots up heating bills. We are talking area of 600 sq ft (up to 1,000 if all of the area is done. ~ Adam Questions: 1- If basement has heated floor , would the heat not float up to the top two floor and reduce heating requirements for house overall ? 2- Is it more cost-effective simply to finish the floor , and use portable heaters as needed. Any advice would be highly appreciated, THANK YOU SO MUCH
