We were set to transform our outdated kitchen (the real estate agent called it "retro," we called it "tacky") into a culinary retreat. And then the tile guy vamoosed in the middle of the job, leaving half the wall periwinkle blue, and the other covered with brown and orange flowers. (We called it "maddening," he never called back.) eRenovate.com founder Tom Cordeiro feels our pain. He created the free online contractor referral service just for people like us.

Yahoo! Canada's Lifestyle Channel (ca. lifestyle.yahoo.com) is raising the roof with ever-more relevant content. It recently added home improvement experts eRenovate.com as a content provider, which joins the ranks of other content providers such as Chatelaine, Martha Stewart, Today's Parent and epicurious.com.
